SAVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP! Ten Wedding Planning Tips You'll WISH You Had Known!

Planning a wedding is a huge undertaking as a couple - and although it is by and large a fantastic experience in growing and learning together, if you don't watch out, it can put undue stress on your relationship. Follow these 10 great tips to ensure your wedding planning draws you CLOSER together!
1. MONEY MANAGEMENT Money is one of the biggest challenges you'll ever face as a couple. Start your marriage off on a strong foot. Plan only for the type of wedding you can afford. Accept what you've got to spend and always shop with this in mind.

2. WEDDING FREE ZONES Have wedding free zones in your home(s) and wedding free evenings with your intended. Then you'll remember why you are doing this…
For more help with your big day don't forget our range of Wedding Planning Apps and Wedding Planning Books.

3. PRIORITIZE Don't waste time getting carried away with the detail of your day until you have put in place the key elements: where and when you'll be married and how much you can spend.
4. BE ORGANIZED It's the key to successful and stress free wedding planning.
5. PRESENT A UNITED FRONT Create your day together and present a united front to your families. Leave some room for family input - especially if they are contributing financially. But be sensitive to the desires and expectations of  your families, respect their point of view and listen - even if you eventually reject their ideas (as people sometimes just like to be heard!).
6. DELEGATE Behind every blooming bride and gorgeous groom is a fabulous and efficient team, so delegate what you can to friends and family who have skills in areas you need help with.
7. BRIDESMAIDS & BEST MAN Have a reliable best man and chief bridesmaid.  If your closest friends are not competent, confident, reliable individuals, give them something else to do!
8. HIRING & FIRING Do not hire anyone or anything until you have seen or sampled their wares.  Get every detail in writing.  Before signing a contract ask: "is this your best price?" And read the small print: are taxes and service charges included - if not, you need to budget for them.
9. KEEP COOL, CALM & COLLECTED - especially with your nearest and dearest.  Don't alienate anyone you'll need later on (I'm thinking mother-in-law!).

and finally - the most important part of planning any wedding:

10. BE TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE Create your perfect wedding, not an international footballers dream day. Ensure your celebration truly reflects you, your values and your shared sense of style.

Top 9 Reception Decorations on a

Budget

We all know that Weddings have the potential to cost HUGE amounts of money, especially if you are getting a Photographer as well as your Wedding Film. That being said, it is easy to find yourself arriving at the reception planning period and running low on funds. Well FEAR NOT! because here are some helpful and inexpensive ideas to make your reception Beautiful.

1. Use Christmas Lights

Many people use white Christmas lights all year round as a simple and elegant decorations. These lights can make a beautiful addition to any wedding reception. They can be hung from the ceiling, around tables, or even around the cake. If you don’t want to use Christmas lights, consider lanterns instead.

2. Tie Ribbons
Seat covers can be expensive to rent and a lot of work to make. Instead of using seat covers, get some beautiful wide ribbon to tie on the backs of the chairs to add some elegance and spruce things up. Ribbon is a cheap alternative compared to fancy seat covers. Enlist the help of friends to get the ribbons cut and tied for the big day.
3. Add a Water Feature
A nice addition to the entrance of your reception would be a water fountain. It could even be a small one that you have in your home that sits on a table. The sound of a water fountain is so refreshing, and it would be nice for your guests to listen to as they can finally relax at the reception.
4. Use Feathers
Feathers are a big trend in wedding decor. Buy them in bulk from a craft store and create large feather wreaths to hang on the walls or add them to centerpieces of flowers for an elegant (and inexpensive) look.
5. Decorate with Food
The wedding food and drink menu you choose and the way it’s arranged on platters can add lots of pizzazz to your big day. Huge and assorted apothecary jars of candy on the dessert bar create a festive mood, while gorgeous trays and farm fresh cheeses and rustic bread can instantly make the party have a more organic feel.

6. Add Candles
There’s nothing more romantic than a dim room lit only by the glow of hundreds of candles. And luckily, candles are inexpensive.
7. Cover with Fabric
You can get yards of your favorite fabrics at a craft store and use it for everything from covering tables to draping from the ceiling (i.e. sheer fabrics work well for this and create a romantic atmosphere). Get creative with material to create a soft, intimate atmosphere.
8. Display Your Engagement PhotosYour guests will love to look at your engagement photographs, and your reception is the perfect place to display them. In fact, your reception may be the only place that some of your guests will ever get to see your engagement photos. And while you’re at it, bring some of your favorite pictures of you and your spouse-to-be to show at the reception. If you are unsure about displaying them in frames or in a collage, consider creating a slide show for reception entertainment.
9.Flowers, Flowers, Flowers!I went to a wedding once that had some large flower displays. They looked like large flower balls. They were elegant, eye-catching, and memorable. To be honest, I don’t remember any decorations other than the flower balls from this wedding. While these displays looked professionally made, a bride and groom could make these flower balls themselves by getting large styrofoam balls (at a craft store like Michael’s) and inserting the stems of the flowers into them. These would be inexpensive to make as long as you either used silk flowers or ordered your flowers from an online wholesaler to save money on wedding flower arrangements.

A Huge thanks to Casey Slide from Money Crashers for the helpful tips

Picking the Perfect Wedding Venue

So it finally happened. He proposed, and you said yes! woo! now you're engaged and that means wedding planning mode! Now, whats the first thing that you want to do? Book a venue of course, but with so many beautiful spots to choose from, how do you decide? Well here are some tips to help narrow your venue search!

1. Communication!
Communication is SO important. Have a chat with your other half about what kind of wedding you want to have, and be prepared to compromise; this could help avoid disagreements later! Do you want a big wedding? or a small one? do you want it in the morning? or at night? these are the foundation questions to start building your wedding on!

2. Church Wedding, or a Civil Wedding?
Deciding what type of ceremony you would like will tighten the area in which you should look for a wedding venue. Remember, your wedding reception should ideally be within a 20 – 25 minute radius of the Ceremony location.

3. Make a Budget
Working out a budget early on will help you to shortlist potential wedding venues. wedding catering and alcohol normally take up quite a large chunk of your budget so remember to include it in your calculations. as well as your Wedding Video, and Photography.

4. What about the Guests?
Don’t forget about friends and family travelling to your wedding.  If you want to avoid expensive taxi charges and hotel bills, look for a wedding venue near to where the majority of your guests live. Or make them drive.... that's always an option! its ok to be a little selfish.

5. Wedding guest numbers
Have a rough idea of the number of people coming to your wedding before you start looking for a wedding venue.  This should avoid the disappointment of visiting a beautiful wedding venue only to find out it is too big/small for your wedding.

6. Your wedding date
If you've decided on a date for your wedding and it’s set in stone, check the availability of that date before you visit.  If you’re flexible about the day of the week, month, season, or even the year of your wedding you’ll have a much wider choice of venues.

7. Seek expert advice
Wedding Blogs and websites such as this one are useful because they have details of a wide range useful information. If you’d like some assistance searching for a venue, a wedding venue finding service can help; tell them your requirements and they will search for a venue to suit you. Wedding Planners can also help you choose a wedding venue as they have experience of weddings at different venues.

If you Follow these simple tips, it will help narrow your choices, and take away the stress and pain of having to go to hundreds of different venues, trying to find one that fits!

Cheers,

Zach
